Compounded BPC-157: important safety information

Please read this carefully before starting compounded bpc-157. It does not replace the guidance of your prescribing provider.

What it is

Compounded BPC-157 is an investigational synthetic peptide. It is studied as a tissue-support, or recovery, protocol, but it is not an FDA-approved drug for any use, and the FDA has not reviewed or approved it for safety or effectiveness. Human clinical data are very limited. Most of what is currently known comes from early or preclinical research, so its effects, the right dose, and its long-term safety are not well characterized. Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed US pharmacy on a valid prescription written by an independent US-licensed provider. They are not the same as FDA-approved, mass-manufactured medications. Whether BPC-157 is appropriate for you is a decision made by your provider after reviewing your full health history. Dr Holistic is a technology platform, not a healthcare provider, and starting is a request for a consultation, not a guarantee of a prescription. This page is general education, not medical advice, and it does not promise any particular result.

Do not use if

  • You are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are trying to become pregnant. Safety in pregnancy has not been established.
  • You are breastfeeding. Safety while breastfeeding has not been established.
  • You have a known allergy or sensitivity to BPC-157 or to any ingredient in the compounded preparation.
  • You have an active or recent cancer, or a history of cancer, unless your provider has specifically reviewed this with you. The effect of BPC-157 on tumor or abnormal-cell growth in humans is not well understood.
  • You are using it for a child or anyone under 18. It has not been studied for use in minors.
  • Your provider has told you it is not appropriate for your history.

Tell your provider before starting if you have

  • All prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, peptides, supplements, and herbal products you take.
  • Any allergies or past reactions to medications, peptides, or injections.
  • Any personal or family history of cancer or abnormal growths.
  • Whether you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Any chronic conditions, including heart, liver, kidney, or autoimmune conditions.
  • Any planned or recent surgery or active injury you are treating.
  • Any change in how you feel after starting, including new or worsening symptoms.
  • Any difficulty with self-injection or with storing or handling the medication.

Common side effects

Because human clinical data are limited, the full range of side effects is not well characterized, and some people may have reactions that have not yet been documented. Effects that have been reported or are commonly associated with injectable peptides include reactions at the injection site such as redness, swelling, bruising, itching, or soreness, as well as nausea, lightheadedness, headache, or fatigue. Tell your provider about anything you notice, even if it seems minor. Your provider can review the protocol with you and guide next steps.

Serious side effects: seek care promptly

  • Signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing, chest tightness, or feeling faint. This can be life-threatening. Stop use and seek emergency care right away.
  • A spreading, painful, warm, or pus-filled injection site, fever, or other signs of infection.
  • Severe or persistent nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or fainting.
  • Any new lump, growth, or unusual change in your body, given the limited human data on how BPC-157 may affect cell growth.
  • Chest pain, irregular or racing heartbeat, severe headache, or any sudden severe symptom.
  • Any reaction that feels severe, does not go away, or worries you. Because the safety profile is not fully established, report serious or unexpected effects to your provider promptly.

Storage & handling

Store your compounded BPC-157 exactly as your pharmacy and provider direct, since storage can differ by formulation. Many reconstituted peptides are kept refrigerated and protected from light and freezing, and unmixed vials may have different instructions, so follow the label that comes with your medication. Keep it in its original container, out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use it past the discard or beyond-use date on the label, and do not use it if it looks cloudy, discolored, or contains particles unless your provider tells you it is expected. Use a new sterile needle and syringe for each injection and discard them in a proper sharps container. If you are unsure how to store or handle it, ask your provider through messaging before using.

BPC-157 is investigational, and human evidence is limited, so its possible effects, risks, and long-term safety are not fully known. Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed US pharmacy on a valid prescription and are not reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. Whether this protocol is appropriate is decided by your independent US-licensed provider after reviewing your full history, and outcomes are individual and never guaranteed. This page is general education, not medical advice, and it does not replace a conversation with your provider. You have a dedicated provider and unlimited messaging as part of your membership, so please report any side effect, question, or concern to them, and seek emergency care for any severe or sudden symptom.
